GhostDoc crashes on "document this"
Problem reported by Paul Reicherdt - 5/5/2020 at 3:00 AM
Resolved
Hi,

unfortunately, GhostDoc crashes while trying to "document this" with the exception:

Browser:

"file://127.0.0.1/C$/users/{name}/AppData/Local/Temp/Sub...." could not be found.

This lead to crash of whole Visual Studio.
I use VS 2019 16.4.4 Professional and GhostDoc Community 2020.1.20070

Kind regards
Paul

Hi Paul,

Could you please send us the log file from c:\Users\\Documents\SubMain\GhostDoc for VS2019\GhostDoc.log to support@submain.com?

Paul,

Thank you for the log file provided. We reviewed it and found only an error when you clicked Test button on the Options->Proxy screen.
What exactly did you do before getting an error? Is it possible to provide us with screenshots or steps to reproduce?

Hi Mischa,

so, actually, just installed. Opened VS and pushed Shift-Ctlr-D at a Property. Then an Exception occured:

Got it. Please open GhostDoc->Options->General and uncheck "Use Comment Editor for Document This".
Then, it seems, GhostDoc doesn't have permission to access your TEMP folder. Please open your TEMP folder in File Explorer and ensure that you have SubMain'N directory there (where N is integer). Do you have any files there?

Hi Misha.

Perfect. It works with unchecking the "Use Comment Editor for Document This".

Thank you!

Hi Paul,

If you experience any further issues related to no access permissions to the Windows TEMP folder on your computer, you can override the default GhostDoc TEMP folder location for your solution using Tools -> GhostDoc {Edition} -> Solution Options -> Settings Override - then you need to set your own folder location for the TempFolderPath setting.

Thanks!

It exists on the commercial versions not in the community edition.
